Gokarna is a small temple town on the west coast of India, located in Kumta Taluk, in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India. Gokarna means cow ears. Shiva here is believed to have come out of the cow’s ears (Prisvi, Mother Earth). It is located at the ear-shaped confluence of the Gangavari and Aganasini rivers.
Known for its idyllic beaches and pristine waters, Gokarna is popular with travelers looking for a quiet vacation. This is a more relaxed, less commercialized version of Gore. In addition to the famous Homme Beach, there are Kudol Beach and the more remote Half Moon Beach and Paradise Beach.
